The Lalique calendar, a conceptual piece for the French premium glass manufacturer, is a testament to the limitless creativity of Lalique artists. The design draws inspiration from the intricate process of handmade glass production, marrying it with the world of paper art to create an immersive, luxurious visual experience. The result is a calendar that is not only functional but also a breathtaking piece of art that engages and entertains throughout the year.
What sets the Lalique calendar apart is its meticulous attention to detail and the high-quality print result. The calendar is entirely handmade from paper, with each piece crafted to perfection. The large format, special effects, and surface treatments all contribute to the calendar's unique aesthetic. The design is further enhanced by the use of Foilstar, UV varnish, embossing, and hot foil emboss.
The production process of the Lalique calendar is a testament to the craftsmanship of Kantors Creative Club. The calendar is made entirely by hand and only from paper, with each sheet cut by laser and glued together to create a whole object. The process required extensive research and testing to find the right type of paper and glue, demonstrating the team's commitment to quality and innovation.
The Lalique calendar is not just a visual treat; it also offers a tactile experience. One of its most notable features is its haptic function, thanks to additional surface technologies such as extensive 3D embossing or UV varnishing. Users can run their hands over the leaves and feel every part of it, adding another layer of interaction and engagement with the design.
The Lalique calendar's design journey began in September 2021 in Wingen-Sur-Moder, France, and concluded in December 2022 in Opava, Czech Republic. The project was a collaborative effort, with contributions from various team members, including Art Director David Kantor, Paper artist Radomír Vysocký, and Executive producer František Zvardoň, among others.
The Lalique calendar's innovative design and exceptional craftsmanship have not gone unnoticed. In 2023, it was awarded the Platinum A' Graphics, Illustration and Visual Communication Design Award, recognizing its world-class, exceptional, and highly innovative design that contributes to societal wellbeing. This accolade is a testament to Kantors Creative Club's commitment to pushing the boundaries of art, science, design, and technology.
